Miami Marine Stadium and the large Coppertone Girl sign that hung over
Biscayne Boulevard were named historic landmarks in a vote by the historic
preservation board yesterday. As a result of the unanimous vote,
the stadium will not be demolished — though it would need millions of
dollars of renovations if it were to reopen — and the sign, which was
moved to Flagler Street 13 years ago, will be moved back to upper Biscayne Boulevard.
