Retirement homes not enough for retirees

Real estate agents and retirees say it’s not enough for retirees to move into retirement homes — they must also become involved in the local community. Retirement communities with fitness centers, pools and activities offer retirees a way to meet their neighbors, and volunteering is another option. Ten percent of retirees move to new communities when they retire, and 70 percent of retirees surveyed recently by AARP said they had done volunteer work in the last year.
