The Port St. Lucie City Council this week approved a plan to rezone 446 acres of citrus groves for residential development. Midway Development East wants to build 1,800 homes on 363 of the acres, using the remaining land for a school, a park, and commercial construction. Council members said the rezoning gives the city more control over how the land is used.
