Windstorm breaks offered

Condominium and homeowners associations that added storm shutters, impact-resistant glass and reinforced doors or roofs could be due for cheaper windstorm insurance. The Office of Insurance Regulation required all insurance companies offering windstorm coverage on condominium communities with multiple buildings and homeowner associations to double their mitigation credits as of September 1. Citizens Property Insurance, the state-run insurer, has already started offering discounts of up to 45 percent on policies for taking mitigation steps.
