The Palm Beach town council will hold a hearing today on
whether to grant landmark status to the Royal Poinciana Plaza and Playhouse.
Developer Sterling Palm Beach unveiled its redevelopment plan for the plaza on October 6.
Two local groups, the Citizens’ Association of Palm Beach and the Palm Beach
Civic Association, support the plan, which includes a theater and adds green
space. The Palm Beach Theater Guild opposes the redevelopment, saying that the
original theater should be landmarked.
