Sales of existing condominium and cooperative units fell 1.8 percent nationwide in
October, year-over-year, according to the National Association of Realtors. Total existing home
sales, including single-family homes, fell 3.1 percent, a 1.6 percent drop from
October 2007. As a result of the drop in sales, home values fell at their
fastest annual rate since 1968, when the National Association of Realtors began keeping records.
