A charity group headed by former Miami Heat player Alonzo Mourning received
approval from Miami-Dade County commissioners to begin an affordable
housing project. The charity will work with the Housing Trust Group, a
Coconut Grove-based for-profit developer controlled, in part, by former
CB Richard Ellis Vice Chairman Jay Massirman, to create 190 units on a
7-acre parcel of county-owned land. Commissioners approved a 65-year
lease on the site.
