Mortgage broker Lauren Jasky was sentenced today to 36 months in
federal prison for participating in a scam that involved using false
appraisals and loan applications to net $6 million in loans.
Stacey Perrault, a former employee of Jasky’s, told the court that
Jasky would file applications for the loans that paid the highest fees,
even if a client qualified for a lower-fee loan, in order to make more
money. Another participant in the scam, Ralph Michel, was sentenced earlier this week to 30 months in prison.
