Fort Lauderdale’s city commission recently designated the Annie Beck
House a historic building in a 5-0 vote. The designation means that the
1916 house now cannot be moved or torn down. The Broward Trust for
Historic Preservation had been petitioning the city for the house to be
designated for four years. The house was built for Annie Beck, one of
Fort Lauderdale’s first residents, and it was moved twice before
arriving at its current location in Middle River Terrace Park this
summer.
