Charles Vavrus failed to get 10,000 homes built on his Palm Beach
County ranch in the current bleak market. Now he hopes to turn part of his property into the inland port that Glades
leaders hope will be built near Lake Okeechobee. The proposed
warehousing and distribution center would serve as a landlocked
extension of South, Southwest and Central Florida’s seaside ports,
including the Port of Palm Beach. The 4,763-acre ranch is along the
western section of Northlake Boulevard, just 13 miles from the port.
