Valdes gets scrutiny in mortgage scam

A Miami-Dade County fraud task force continues to investigate Homestead
broker Yvette Valdes in connection with a scam involving millions
of dollars of mortgages based on bogus information. Valdes, 48, has
been linked to New York mortgage executive Orson Benn,
now serving a prison sentence for racketeering. Police are expected to
examine more than 100 mortgages that Valdes and co-workers wrote at
Sandkick Mortgage between May 2004 and September 2005.
