The Betsy Ross Hotel at 1440 Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, which has been
closed for renovation since spring 2007, is set to reopen next month.
The 63-room hotel, originally opened in 1942, is undergoing a $35
million renovation, which should be completed by mid-February. The
hotel includes a spa, zen garden, outdoor pool, and restaurant, and
room rates range from $400 to $3,000. Raul Leal, president of Desires
Hotels, the company that manages the Betsy Ross Hotel, said the
economic downturn has not yet hit South Florida’s luxury hospitality
market.
