Successful loan modification programs and holiday foreclosure halts cut
the numbers of homes lost in the region last month, RealtyTrac
reported. Broward County had 6,801 people at some stage of foreclosure
last month, a drop from October but up from 4,157 a year ago. Palm
Beach County reported 2,622 people in foreclosure in November, a drop
from the previous months but up from 1,906 a year ago. Across the
country, more than 259,000 homes received at least one
foreclosure-related notice in November, down 7 percent from October but
28 percent higher than a year ago.
