Arrest in Lauderhill inspection scam

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a veteran building inspector
who allegedly used his position to solicit bribes in exchange for
building permits. Vito DiBenedetto, 53, of Davie, was charged with
accepting a bribe from a contractor. He is alleged to have taken a
total of $10,000 in bribes while wearing his work clothes and falsely
wearing a badge that said he was the chief building inspector. He was
hired by Lauderhill in May, and was fired Monday.
