Architect LEEDs the way

Thorn Grafton, the architect overseeing the growing number of South
Florida schools and projects seeking LEED certification, has a rich
architectural heritage that makes his own goal of sustainable,
environmentally sensitive construction part of a natural family
progression. Grafton, director of Sustainable Initiatives for Zyscovich
Architects, is working on Pine Jog Elementary School, in West Palm
Beach, which hopes to attain gold LEED certification. He’s part of the
third generation of architects working in the region and said
sustainable living — and what presently seems like the intensely
complicated LEED certification process — will soon become as
commonplace as the tropical architecture his grandfather helped create.
