There were over 100,000 foreclosures in South Florida in 2008,
according to Default Research, a pre-foreclosure listing tracking firm.
Miami-Dade County had the most foreclosures in the region, with 47,672,
followed by Broward County, with 37,446 and Palm Beach County, with
16,743. The firm found that foreclosures leveled off in the fourth
quarter. For all of 2008, 4.91 percent of households in Miami-Dade
County entered foreclosure, as did 4.66 percent in Broward and 2.62
percent in Palm Beach County.
