Dior bids adieu to Palm Beach

The Christian Dior boutique on glitzy Worth Avenue shut its doors the
day after Christmas, confirming long-circulating rumors it was
faltering. Sherry Frankel, president of the Worth Avenue Association,
said only the timing was a surprise. Emanuel Ungaro closed its Palm
Beach store in September. Company officials declined to comment.
Corporate parent LVMH, a French luxury-goods conglomerate, also owns
Louis Vuitton and Emilio Pucci and operates Vuitton and Pucci boutiques
at 150 Worth Ave. The 2,000-square-foot Dior boutique was the Paris
house’s 15th store in the United States at the time of its 2003 opening.
