A specially appointed task force charged with reducing the overall
liability of Citizens Property Insurance called on Thursday for lawmakers to increase
homeowner rates by as much as 20 percent. A final report will be
presented to the Florida House of Representatives on January 31. Citizens’
rates have been frozen for three years and task force members are
urging the state to allow Citizens to begin raising them in January
2010.
