Members of Miami Beach’s Design Review Board criticized the proposed design for the Belle Isle Apartments this week, calling it “alien.” The project is a five-story, 179-unit residential building at 31 Venetian Way. One board member told architect Luis Revuelta that the building doesn’t fit with the rest of the neighborhood. But Revuelta argued that the city should have a variety of architectural styles. Revuelta recently left his firm amid controversy over use of firm funds.
