Trying for historic status in Plantation

Growth and evolution have taken Plantation from a sleepy village to a city seeking historical preservation funds. The first homes were built in Plantation in March 1947 on lots valued at $200 an acre. In 1949, the Plantation Homeowner’s Association was formed, and it was incorporated in 1953 with fewer than 500 residents and a budget of $1,288. Federal funds could help preserve some local features and could affect real estate values positively.
