South Florida sees increase in bankruptcies

Personal and business bankruptcy filings in 10 South Florida counties
rose in February from a year ago, though last month saw fewer filings
than January. Personal filings rose 42 percent to 1,662 in February
from a year ago. Business bankruptcy filings increased to 105 last
month from 86 in February 2008. Both personal and business
bankruptcies, though, declined from January, when 1,685 consumer
filings and 111 business filings were recorded.
