Residents of the Tradition development in Port St. Lucie were unfamiliar
with the term “Chinese drywall,” or drywall made in China, until a few
months ago, when builder
Centerline Homes analyzed plasterboard in the community and discovered Chinese
drywall. It is suspected to contain sulfuric gases that corrode wires,
pipes and air conditioning components and emit an odor. The Chinese
drywall has been found in houses where drywall was added between 2004
and early 2007.
