The 420-unit CityPlace South Tower could be turned into a hotel for
Palm Beach County’s convention center, according to a proposal from
Christina Morrison Pearce, a real estate consultant. The cost for
transforming the new residential condominium could be as much as $108
million. County managers, who have been working on plans to build a
hotel next to the convention center, say the finances of the proposal
would not work out. After giving up on a deal with developer Ocean
Properties for the hotel last year, county administrators said they
will start looking at new proposals in about 60 days. CityPlace South had sold 38 of its 420 units as of last week.
