The former Regent South Beach has become a Crowne Plaza in the hope that the more affordable brand will pull more guests in during a recession, but it’s downplaying its affiliation with the budget brand. The Hotel de Soliel, an independent boutique, 80-room condo-hotel at 1437 Collins Avenue, will become the Z Ocean Hotel. The tony W Hotel is less than a mile down the street.
