Officials from the Federal Reserve are hitting the road in South Florida to let the public know what the agency is doing to get the economy moving and ease the flow of credit. Thomas Cunningham, an economist and vice president of the Fed’s Atlanta branch, spoke yesterday to a Fort Lauderdale business group, one of 69 speeches officials from that district have given since the start of the year. Cunningham also spoke in Miami, describing federal programs to stabilize credit markets, which include agreements to lend to some non-bank financial companies and financial help for investors buying mortgage-backed securities and clearing up bank balance sheets.
