Tunnel project revived

The Port of Miami tunnel project appears to be back on track again, as another chapter in the bureaucratic saga of the $1 billion undertaking opened with concessions from the Florida Department of Transportation. Lengthy negotiations between the state and Miami-Dade city and county officials resulted in a decision to work with the original construction group, rather than undertaking another global bid search. The planned switch could have pushed the project’s completion to 2015 or 2016, while the original deal had the tunnel set for completion in 2012.
