Appraisals playing more of a role

Robert White, founder and president of Real Capital Analytics, spoke to John Salustri, editorial director of Incisive Media’s real estate group, about the role of appraisals in today’s market. White said that while appraisals used to be employed to “pad the files,” now more transactions are being done based on them. White also talked about distressed debt and said he expects more retail and hotel properties to enter the distressed market soon.
