Bank of America sheds Countrywide name

Bank of America dropped the Countrywide Home Loans name from its business after completing its integration of the battered mortgage lender. The bank is busy rebranding itself as it struggles to survive amid the uncertain financial environment. During the first quarter, the combined Bank of America and Countrywide mortgage operations funded $89 billion in mortgages and home equity loans.
