Bacardi USA’s modernist headquarters building received a unanimous historic designation from the Miami preservation board in a vote yesterday. Bacardi, which is moving to Coral Gables from the distinctive tower, will be able to review the building, make cost estimates for renovations and propose new uses for the blue-tiled structure, which it plans to leave before the end of the year. Company attorneys said they’re already meeting with officials to discuss other uses.
