Drywall claim extension granted

Homeowners in Parkland have until May 31 to file claims against WCI Communities related to defective Chinese-made drywall panels, a federal bankruptcy judge ruled. Judge Kevin J. Carey granted the extension Monday in Delaware federal bankruptcy court, expanding the claims deadline against the bankrupt builder past the February 2 deadline. The builder told the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that Chinese drywall went into some of the builder’s homes before WCI Communities filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
