South Florida has spent time, money and energy bringing the Scripps Research Institute and the Max Planck Society to Jupiter and the Torrey Pines Institute to Port St. Lucie, but the benefits of biotech have yet to hit the area economy. The Milken Institute in a recent report ranked Palm Beach County 80th in biotech output, up from 81st in 2003. The Treasure Coast came in at 211th, up from 213th in 2003.
