A former West Palm Beach police officer was slated to return to court this morning on burglary charges after being arrested two weeks ago for allegedly illegally taking over foreclosed homes. When Carl Heflin, 51, was first arrested, police said he had filed at least 30 false deed transfers for foreclosed homes. He reportedly told detectives he was renting the homes for about $6,000 per month. Detectives said he had also committed a number of burglaries and thefts.
