The Landmarks Preservation Commission has recommended that the town council not create a historic district on Royal Poinciana Way. Preservation consultant Jane Day had advised the commission against recommending a historic district after scrutinizing building permits and finding that even the street’s oldest buildings have been modified recently and do not retain their original architectural character. The Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach has urged the commission to be mindful of the street’s architecture when considering zoning changes this fall.
