Pompano Beach opened a 6.7-acre marina, 14 months after construction started on the Aquamarina Hidden Harbour. Frank Herhold, executive director of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida, said it was the area’s first new fixture in a decade. The new dry storage area will be a boost for South Florida’s $10.8 billion marine industry as dock space disappears. Andrew Sturner, CEO of Aqua Marine Partners, which will operate the storage unit, said the facility will create 250 to 300 jobs and the company will continue to look at developing the surrounding land.
