Use crisis for affordable housing, commissioners say

Palm Beach County Commissioners are urging the county to find a way to take advantage of the inventory of foreclosed homes to further its goal of creating more affordable housing. Commissioner Steven Abrams said a subsidy program could put people in need of housing into existing homes. Commissioner Jess Santamaria said the county’s rules for developers to provide incentives to build affordable housing have not succeeded.
