Miami-Dade tax hike looms

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Alvarez’s views on a property tax increase will become clear by Wednesday, when his office must submit a budget proposal that may say a boost is necessary. County property values are down 9.5 percent, according to county appraiser Pedro Garcia, and Alvarez said it would be nearly impossible to make up the funding gap without increasing the budget.
