Tax tussle on boundary move

The county line between Broward and Palm Beach will move next month, leaving the two governments figuring out how to divide the tax revenues of the approximately 2,000 acres that will become Broward land. The turf includes a mix of rock mines, agriculture, nurseries and stables appraised last year at a taxable value of about $18 million. That translated to about $300,000 in property taxes last year. At present, no agreement has been reached about how the two financially strained counties will divide the revenue. [Sun Sentinel]
