James Mattei, a Palm Beach resident who just finished building a home on the lagoon side of Everglades Island, widened his property presence with a $6 million purchase of a house on the Intracoastal Waterway directly across the street. Property records show that family trustees of the residence trust for Adelaide M. Wean sold 657 Island Drive for $6 million to one of Mattei’s companies, United Properties Group LLC. Mattei in 2005 built Villa Isola, a Venetian-style 7,800-square-foot house designed by architect Ames Bennett and designer Michael Perry.
