Phoenix Suns basketball player Amar’e Stoudemire paid $5.6 million for a penthouse at the W South Beach, a rare high-profile purchase at a luxury condo-hotel. He bought the unit directly from W South Beach development partnership 2201 Collins Fee, a company led by David Edelstein, according to property records. Broker Kevin Tomlinson of Esslinger Wooten Maxwell said more professional athletes are selling Florida properties than buying them, pointing to NBA star Shaquille O’Neal’s recent $16 million sale of his Star Island estate.
