A delegation from the Consumer Product Safety Commission plans to visit
China on August 17 after Chinese officials approved the trip. The
agency said it plans to visit several sites of interest — one of the
manufacturers of tainted drywall is based in the port
city of Tianjin. The agency has tallied 6.2 million sheets of drywall
shipped to the United States, where problems have been reported in 28
states. Also, with the Florida Department of Health and the
Environmental Protection Agency, the commission is investigating the
presence of radioactive phosphogypsum that may be in some of the
drywall.
