Palm Beach County to set tax rate

Today is the last chance for Palm Beach County residents to comment on the proposed property tax rate hike, which will be 14.9 percent higher than last year. Commissioners this month tentatively approved a tax rate of $4.34 for every $1,000 of taxable value. The current rate is $3.87 for every $1,000 of taxable value. The hearing is at 6 p.m. today at the county government center.
