The Real Deal Miami

BankUnited moves house

September 28, 2009 06:01PM

Troubled BankUnited will move its headquarters and other operations from Coral Gables to existing space at 7815 NW 148th St. in Miami Lakes. The long speculated move ends efforts by Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce President Mark Trowbridge and Mayor Donald Slesnick II to keep the headquarters in the city. BankUnited failed in May and was taken over by federal regulators, who arranged a sale to a private equity group led by John Kansas. It recently hired Nic Bustle, former Miami president for Atlanta-based SunTrust Bank, to bolster its commercial lending efforts. [Miami Today]
