Coral Gables building director drops appeal

Margaret Pass, the former Coral Gables Building and Zoning director, will not continue the appeal process to overturn her dismissal. She was fired in 2007, a year after her assistant hatched a scheme to defraud the city with phantom temporary employees who drew real paychecks. Pass was accused of having department workers repair and renovate her own properties in Central Florida and abusing comp time.
