Renovations get cheaper in crunch

South Florida homeowners who plan to fix up their properties instead of moving are finding plenty of contractors who want to work, and work for less money. Discounts of 5 percent to 20 percent are common among home renovators, and the time frames for completing the work have also shrunk. A slowdown in major construction has left many contractors eager to work any type of job, said Jeff Wyman of Wyman Builders in Boca Raton, who also heads the Remodelers’ Council of the Gold Coast Builder’s Association.
