One of the largest U.S. home builders, KB Home, faces an accounting investigation from the Securities and Exchange Commission, according to the company’s quarterly filing released Friday. According to the filing, the SEC is investigating the group’s “possible accounting and disclosure issues.” The probe has some concerned that the company’s share values could drop — according to Zelman & Associates head Ivy Zelman, while “it’s tough to know” how the group’s stocks could be affected, many investors would do well to avoid the company until the issue is resolved. KB Home recently saw an uptick in its stock values, as some U.S. home builders saw their share values pick up.
