Palm Beach County single-family housing starts hit a post-boom high in the third quarter, according to a new report by Metrostudy. Builders put up 260 new single-family homes in Palm Beach County in the third quarter of 2009, nearly three times the low point of the first quarter, when only 93 homes were built. The new high is still about a tenth of the peak rates of the boom, when about 2,500 homes were started each quarter. Miami-Dade and Broward counties saw only 40 new single-family home starts in the third quarter, but 137 low- and mid-rise condominium projects started there during the same three-month period. Valencia Pointe and Abacoa are the two South Florida communities with the most housing starts for the year, with 132 in Valencia Pointe and 124 in Abocoa, Metrostudy said.
