Palm Beach condo association moves to grab default dilemma by the horns

Owners belonging to the Palm Beach Grande Condominium Association are behind a total of $675,000 in maintenance fees, and the suburban group is desperate for the cash. The association is moving to seize control of delinquent units, bypass owners on rent collection and rent units through a third party, according to a petition filed in Palm Beach County Circuit Court. About 160 of the 304 units in the West Palm Beach’s association, at 1780 Windorah Way, have gone into foreclosure in the last two years, and some of those condos are being rented out by owners who are now refusing to pay fees for water, security, insurance and other amenities. The associate says it will be unable to support itself through the end of the year if the situation is not addressed. [Palm Beach Post]
