Miami Mayor-elect Tomás Regalado, whose campaign promised a break from the go-go development years of Mayor Manny Diaz, is widely expected to choose two-term Miami commissioner Marc Sarnoff as chairman of the City Commission. Sarnoff represents the Biscayne Boulevard corridor between Coconut Grove and the Upper East Side and has long been allied with Regalado on development issues. He also has Regalado’s backing to become the new director of the Downtown Development Authority, which is responsible for drawing business to the downtown area, though the post is ultimately chosen by commissioners.
