Cushman sees jobs report as good news for office market

December 04, 2009 03:57PM

New federal Labor Department statistics showing an increase of 59,000 office jobs nationally (see CNBC video about the jobs report below) in November are a positive sign for the commercial office market, Cushman & Wakefield managing director of research Ken McCarthy said in a statement.

The jobs report released today shows the third straight month of increases in office employment.

“Most critically for the office property market, employment in office-using industries … increased by 59,000 jobs in November,” McCarthy said in the statement. “There is also a strong argument for healthy job growth tied to the need for businesses that cut employment levels significantly to now hire more quickly to meet rising demand.” TRD
