Attorney investigated in foreclosure rescue scam

Karen Grun, a Coral Springs lawyer, is drawing attention from the Florida Bar Association after her ties to a troubled mortgage rescue company came to light. Grun’s ties to the Deerfield Beach-based Housing Assistance Law Center drew the Bar’s attention after the Florida Attorney General’s Office announced its investigation of the company in July. The company has been dissolved, but Grun was listed as its director and president from April through June. State officials remain concerned that attorneys and foreclosure rescue firms are flouting rules banning upfront fees for loan modification work.
